Its success story began in 1963 when Jack Heuer, great-grandson of the company's founder Edouard Heuer, developed a chronograph specifically designed to meet the needs of racing drivers. As an enthusiastic supporter and official timekeeper of the Sebring 12-hour race, the Heuer had a clear idea of what was needed—a large watch with an easily readable dial and a shock-resistant case robust enough to withstand the extreme conditions of the race track.
