TAG Heuer Carrera—a Racing Track Legend
Today, the TAG Heuer Carrera is a synonymous with timekeeping in racing. Its success story began in 1963 when Jack Heuer, great-grandson of the company's founder Edouard Heuer, developed a chronograph specifically designed to meet the needs of racing drivers. As an enthusiastic supporter and official timekeeper of the Sebring 12-hour race, the Heuer had a clear idea of what was needed—a large watch with an easily readable dial and a shock-resistant case robust enough to withstand the extreme conditions of the race track.
THE Contemporary Sports Watch from TAG Heuer
One year later, the entrepreneur presented the Carrera chronograph, named after the most prestigious and most dangerous road race of the time, the “Carrera Panamericana Mexico”. The simple lines of the dial, designed with readability in mind, have made the TAG Heuer Carrera a top-of-the-line racing watch. In the decades that followed, the TAG Heuer Carrera has been worn by all the “Scuderia Ferrari” drivers, including racing legends such as Carlos Reutemann, Jacky Ickx, Niki Lauda and Jody Scheckter.
Today, it is known as a classic watch for men and women and is available in many refined versions—from chronographs and three-hand watches to GMT watches and a Haute Horlogerie watch complete with toubillon. All models are characterized by the timeless, sporty elegance of the original and continue to focus on the utmost precision and durability.
