Zenith Pilot: Fascinated and inspired by the conquest of the sky
The history of the Zenith Pilot watches and of the manufacture itself are closely related. Georges-Favre Jacot founded the manufacture in 1865 and only 23 years later, in 1888, he registered the trademark for the French word “Pilote” and later “Pilot”. This was a historic moment from two perspectives: Long time before the first flying machine was even built and of course also well before the first aviator watch saw the day of light, the early trademark registration once again demonstrates what a visionary the founding father of the brand from Le Locle was. Moreover, Zenith was from then on not only the leading manufacturer of aviation instruments, but the manufacture was also the only watch brand in the world that was allowed to have the word “Pilot” on its dials. Accordingly, the course of the Pilot watches was to become special as well, and they have been inspiring aviation enthusiasts and watch aficionados ever since.
Zenith Pilot: Technology, Design, and Coolness Aboard
However, when you think of the Pilot models of the past decades, you think of more than just the lettering on the dial. Even if the vintage look of the predecessor models has little in common at first glance with the modern coolness of this year's collection, all Zenith Pilot versions share the same guiding principle: They are absolutely suitable for use. Reduced colors and oversized luminous Arabic numerals as well as the large date display ensure perfect readability, while the oversized crown is easy to operate even when wearing gloves. Inside the case, there is the manufacture's proprietary high-frequency caliber El Primero, whose special aesthetics and precison can be admired through a sapphire crystal caseback. Robust case materials, such as ceramic and stainless steel, defy even intensive wear and tear. Are you ready for take-off? Zenith has long since given clearance for take-off with the Pilot collection.
