Product Description
Once an indispensable instrument to safely navigate a ship on the world's oceans, marine chronometers are now also conquering studies, living and dining rooms as maritime accessories. An exquisite example full of nautical heritage is the Cube marine chronometer designed by Tim Heywood (Ref. CW800018), which combines Wempe's almost 120 years of experience in the manufacture of chronometers with a design created by the world-famous yacht designer Tim Heywood. Measuring 215 x 248 x 250 millimeters, the dark brown, hand-polished fine-wood case with 16 layers of lacquer reveals a masterful gold-plated brass clock behind its three hinged doors. Under a glass made of extremely resistant borosilicate and decorated with twelve meridians that radiate outward from the glass' center, the dial shines in an intense blue color and its look is complemented by a modern typography. At four and eight o'clock, two openings allow a view of the in-house movement with three bridges type 07, which stands out visually by its elaborate decorations and technically by its newly designed and optimized components. With a maximum rate deviation of 0.3 seconds a day and a power reserve of 56 hours, this timepiece stands for the highest degree of precision and once again emphasizes the great importance of chronometry. A gold-plated time zone map in the lid skillfully rounds off the design.
