With its Max Bill model line, Junghans has created a design icon that has been in constant demand for decades. After designing table and wall clocks, the famous designer Max Bill began designing watches for Junghans in 1961. Here, too, function took precedence over everything else in accordance with rules laid out by the Bauhaus design school. This minimalist approach to watch design continues to shapes the style of generations of watches today.

Colorful or Black and White

For Max Bill, a watch had to be easy to read at first glance. Therefore, the dial on the Junghans Max Bill features a minute scale which has slightly longer lines and—on some models—there are Arabic numerals for the hours as well as three easily distinguishable hands. Max Bill's typography can still be clearly recognized today, especially in the number four. Today, Junghans produces his classic, which has been reissued since 1997, in a number of variations—with self-winding or hand-wound movement, with dials in candy colors or in plain white and black, with quilted and smooth leather straps or leather straps with felt, as well as stainless steel bracelets.
