Dress Watches—Understated Yet Classy

Whether you need a watch for an important party or for a business lunch, you can't go wrong with a dress watch. Dress watches, also called suit watches, are a perfect choice because they are understated, yet elegant, and refined. Some timeless examples of dress watches are the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Date and the Breguet Classique 5177.

Features of Dress Watches

Most suit watches are minimalistic three-hand models that display the hours, minutes, and seconds. When the dress watch also has a date display, it is often referred to as a business watch because it is the perfect partner for your everyday working life.

Men's dress watches can usually be recognized by the following:

  1. A distinctive dial. Dials can be made in contrasting materials both light and dark or in matt shades, the important thing is that the dial is minimally reflective. Some watches are graced with thin hour markers, while others feature modern Arabic or classic Roman numerals.
  2. A gold case. Yellow and rose gold are the most traditional materials used for cases on dress watches. Not only is gold a timeless choice, but it's also a wise investment because the precious metal retains its value. If you'd prefer a dress watch in a different material, you can also find suit watches in white gold, platinum, or stainless steel variations.
  3. The black alligator leather bracelets. These bracelets are the most widely used in dress watches. And if you want to make a bigger statement you can choose leather straps in different shades of brown. Dress watches are not normally embroidered as this would make them too sporty.
