Breitling Top Time: The Beginning of a New Era

The Breitling Top Time has its roots in the early 1960s and in particular in a subculture that popularized motorsports for the masses. Known as café racers, it was once predominantly young men from the rock'n roll subculture who met outside a designated café on the saddles of their converted motorcycles to drive races on public roads. Almost typical of the era also known as the decade of upheaval and new beginnings, those café racers and their followers also had an unrestrained free spirit, to which Willy Breitling already paid tribute at the time. Without further ado, he transposed the unconventional and speed-loving style of the scene into the design of a watch. The first Breitling Top Time was born. The spirit of the wild sixties has been an integral part of the Top Time collection ever since. The current models also provide the line with a very special spirit: Deus, Shelby & Co. adorn the dials as renowned car and motorcycle manufacturers, making the Top Time watches absolute highlights for motorsports enthusiasts in addition to their already eye-catching design.

Surprisingly Different, Remarkably Authentic: Breitling Top Time

Like the café racers back then, the Breitling Top Time models immediately catch the eye with their unconventional style. The pronounced horns and oversized mushroom-shaped pushpieces give the round cases a striking look. Some versions once again feature the “Zorro dial”—a designation for the distinctive triangular colored sections at 3 and 9 o'clock and the eye-catching feature of the Top Time models of the 1960s. Other highlights include the recessed totalizers with record fluting and the mostly red accents. Technically, the Breitling Top Time is fully up to date. Inside the stainless-steel cases of the line, there is the modern COSC-certified self-winding movement Breitling caliber B01.
