Panerai Submersible—the Sporting Interpretation of a Legend

The Panerai Submersible marks the beginning of another chapter in the success story of the legendary Panerai Luminor. It remains true to the style-defining characteristics of this watch legend that was originally developed in the 1940s for the Italian navy, but is even more sporty and features a wider range of materials. The slightly angular case, which is already familiar from the original Panerai Luminor, has a counterclockwise rotating bezel with a scale for calculating the dive time—a mechanism developed and patented by Panerai that means that the watch can be adjusted extremely precisely. The distinctive crown protection bridge on the Panerai Submersible also adds to the standard water-resistance of up to 30 bar as it applies light pressure to the winding crown.

Panerai Submersible—Mechanics of the Highest Quality

The Panerai Submersible line is a diverse one as the different models come in a range of materials. Conventional high-tech materials such as titanium are joined by classic stainless steel and innovative materials such as BMG-Tech—a particularly impact-resistant and corrosion-resistant metallic glass. The technology used inside these watches is equally groundbreaking, most notably the automatic caliber P.9010 which has a power reserve of three days. Developed and manufactured entirely at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, this caliber features a date window, a small seconds display at nine o'clock, and a mechanism for stopping the balance. It is complemented by a system for setting the time by advancing or retracting the hour hand in one-hour increments without affecting the rate of the watch.

Panerai Submersible at Wempe

Like Wempe, Panerai also looks back on a long history influenced by nautical science. The paths of the two companies first crossed in 1998. Since then, Wempe has offered a variety of Panerai watches, including selected models from the Submersible line. Since sports and diving watches are often exposed to many different external influences, good care and regular maintenance of these watches is especially important. As part of our comprehensive services, we will be happy to take care of both for you, and will be happy to advise you on all aspects of your watch in our showrooms.
