The RHS Chelsea Flower Show
This year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea were once again transformed into the world’s greatest flower show, home to amazing plant displays and the best cutting-edge garden designs. Later in the day, members of the Royal family visited the show, including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Countess of Wessex, Prince Harry, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Furthermore, impressive show features like photographic exhibits and a floral arch were exhibited to honour the 90th birthday of HM the Queen.
Welcome to the Bowdens Garden: A Journey through Time and PlantsMulti-RHS gold medal winning Bowdens’ garden has been a time-traveller’s journey centred on the planted-up station. Belmond British Pullman’s 25 metre vintage carriage was the centrepiece of the 6,000 square foot exhibit, located in the centre of the Great Pavilion at the prestigious Monument site. Bowdens is a family business run by Tim and Ruth Penrose specialising in mail order plants. They hold an impressive haul of 126 RHS Gold Medals including 26 at Chelsea Flower Show.
The visitors were able to step from an English country station platform to board Belmond British Pullman and travel through a collection of plant hunters’ ephemera. Afterwards their journey led into a Malaysian rainforest featuring a display of tree ferns including a rare Cameron Highlands Cyathea contaminams.
