The opening of the largest Wempe branch worldwide in the historic Maximilian Arcades on February 23, 2017, was celebrated at a glamorous event.
Munich, February 23, 2017 – In the elegant setting of the historic Maximilian Arcades in Munich, the grand opening of the spectacular new Wempe branch was celebrated by an array of stars including Manuel Neuer, Hannah Herzsprung, and Marie Bäumer as well as 500 invited guests.
General Manager Dietmar Schülein and his team also welcomed many journalists, as well as popular bloggers such as Caro Daur, Viky & the Kid, and Style Shiver. At the evening event, the guests took advantage of the opportunity to stroll through the spacious premises for the first time while enjoying champagne, cocktails, and lounge music presided over by the popular New York DJane Lola Langusta.
After a 12-month construction period, the spectacular new Wempe branch at Maximilianstrasse 6, opposite the Bayerische Staatsoper, is now completed. The Hamburg-based architects Anna Nicolas and Jessica Klatten have created a fascinating building that rises up from the foundations of the former Münzgarten. A finely sculptured staircase forms its center, links the three floors, and invites visitors to explore the building and the fascinating connections between the site’s rich history and the branch’s decidedly modern elements.
Exciting and exclusive
On a total of 1,349 square meters of retail space, Wempe offers 24 brands of the finest German and Swiss watch manufactures. For some of these brands, Wempe is the exclusive retailer in Germany. The second floor houses the Rolex Boutique, the Patek Philippe Corner, the brand world of Jaeger-LeCoultre, and the Espace Cartier. The restored vaulted passage underneath the arcades is the setting of Wempe’s presentation of its selection of clocks and watch winders. Eleven discreetly elegant retail centers distributed throughout all the floors offer customers the opportunity to choose items from the exquisite range of watches and the unique selection of jewelry from the Wempe Atelier.
Service in 11 languages
Dietmar Schülein has been the General Manager of the branch at Maximilianstrasse 10 since 1989 and has made it one of Wempe’s most successful branches. As “official purveyors of the Munich way of life,” he and his team made sure their experiences with discerning Munich customers flowed into the design process for the new premises. And because their customers here are very international, Schülein’s 32 employees, who come from nine different countries, offer their services in a total of 11 languages. That too makes the new branch in the Maximilian Arcades a very special place where very special wishes can be fulfilled in a very special city.
