The Datejust has been regarded as the archetype of the classical wristwatch ever since it premiered in 1945 as the first water-resistant self-winding wristwatch in chronometer quality with a date display in a window at “3 o’clock.” The Datejust set new standards of aesthetics and functionality, and it remains one of the best-known watches in the world today.
