At the prestigious watch fair Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, visitors can directly experience the diversity and fascination of the fine art of watchmaking. This year 30 leading international brands presented their innovations in Geneva.

The Geneva Watch Salon is not only the start of each new watch year — it’s also a tremendous source of impulses. Trends are set, new models are unveiled, and the mood in the sector is evaluated here.

This year, the top brands in the world of watchmaking once again vied with one another to win the favor of customers. But the big labels neither told clients what they wanted to hear nor displayed familiar old models in new guises. The industry had done its homework. Rather than taking a wait-and-see approach, the brands are pursuing a full-speed-ahead strategy.

Meticulously revised collections, especially in the entry-level price range, lured a keenly interested audience to buy spontaneously or to transform a well-planned gift idea into a softly ticking reality.

Top models in the world of haute horlogerie convinced visitors, as did a surprisingly diverse mix of new case materials that promise longevity and a new level of wearing comfort. Many traditional collections have been redefined and have undergone revision in order to offer a refreshing new look. Greater attention is also being lavished on women as fashion-conscious and style-oriented customers. The editors of UHREN-MAGAZIN and the experts from Wempe Jewelers, who gathered information on site at the Salon, now present the initial high points of the 2017 watch year.

Sincerely,

Thomas Wanka, Editor in Chief of UHREN-MAGAZIN
