Scatola del Tempo: The invention of the watch winder
Italian-born Sandro Colarieti developed the first series of watch winders in 1989 with the aim of simulating movement on the wrist and thus ensuring the functionality of the automatic watch when not worn. Only a short time later, he presented his development to Patek Philippe – also great collector of high-quality watches – and they, after a short test phase, ordered 500 of Colarieti's Scatola del Tempo watch winders.
From the simple box to the high-end piece of furniture
While the Scatola del Tempo watch winders started life as simple boxes, which could only one wind one watch at a time, Colarieti developed more and more exclusive and fancy watch winders and cases over the years. Today, handmade winders are more reminiscent of fancy designer furniture, some of which offer space for over 100 watches as nothing is impossible for Scatola del Tempo and its partners. And the Italian company continues to refine its technology.
At Wempe, you will find selected watch winders from Scatola del Tempo for one or more watches. If you are interested in finding out more about a specific watch winder or other watch accessories, we look forward to seeing you in one of our showrooms.
