IWC Schaffhausen Da Vinci – the beauty of mechanics
The gifted painter and scientist Leonardo Da Vinci is said to have had a passion for measuring time accurately. 500 years later, IWC Schaffhausen pays homage to Da Vinci's genius with its IWC Schaffhausen Da Vinci watch line. This line first entered the stage of luxury watches in 1969. Then, in 1985, IWC Schaffhausen delivered a masterpiece that catapulted the brand to the league of Haute Horlogerie in the middle of the quartz crisis. The watch in question was a mechanical chronograph fitted with a perpetual calendar, moon-phase display and four-digit year.
Timeless elegance for men and women
Today, following its relaunch in 2017, the Da Vinci line is as elegant as ever. With its round case, striking Arabic numerals and lancet-shaped hands, the current line continues to adhere to the clear design code of the IWC Schaffhausen Da Vinci models from the 1980s. A highlight of these newer models is the fact that the horns can be moved, this makes them very comfortable to wear while making these models attractive for wearers with narrower wrists.
The models for ladies come with smaller cases, some with diamond-studded bezels or Santoni leather straps in various colors. The case back is refined by an elaborate "flower of life" pattern. The 19 intertwined circles contain numerous geometric and universal laws, which Leonardo da Vinci also took inspiration from.
